MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Hungrily Obsessed’

you can slumber in your bed
while i bake my sour bread
made pure without added yeast
tastes delish to say the least

full involvement of the senses
not burdening on expenses
plain seeded or little sweet
with rye flour it’s a treat

how to master opened ear
kept me up for a whole year
at the end i gave up trying
wiped my eyes stopped crying

today i bake the perfect bread
with no ear and heart instead
tasty fluffy dense just right
keeps me up whole night

day and night i dream of dough
when one ends next one will grow
hungry starter akin to a child
fed on sugars goes tad wild

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Early’

roosters crowing
orange marigolds
coconut fiber baskets
gods daily offerings

smell of smoke
burning waste
sleepless joggers
broken footpath

the sea reaches out
cocoons the swimmers
sun warms the body
another glorious day

on this island
paradise
on earth

Poem ‘Early’ read by the author.

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘No Heat’

warmth emitted by a heater
legs in woolen socks
steaming hot cereal drink
in a thermo cup

three layers of tops
keeping the body toasty
surviving the elements
with no central heating

peeking outside the door
kids in shorts and Ts
playing around the pool
water almost frozen

different comfort zone
when one was a child
no weather forecast
could break the deal

funny part of aging
the heart keeps warm
cold hands and feet
having the chi on ice

Poem ‘No Heat’ read by the author.

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘July Down Under’

holiday spirit
winter in the sky
seasonal festivities
christmas in july

vego feast making
knife very sharp
tiny cookies baking
let’s live the carp

snowflakes falling
on green grass
roos hop around
lake turned into glass

local markets
full of food
chopping boards
made out of wood

beanies and gloves
crochet socks
everyone loves
presents box

small or large
nobody cares
without charge
who compares

Poem ‘July Down Under’ read by the author.
