MORNING POETRY -‘Waiting’

life is full of
twists and turns
coming days
bring big concerns

living on a busy coast
today our town
usually full of noise
slowed right down

never before so quiet
neighbors disappeared
behind brick walls
cyclone is feared

all media feeds
constant stream
yet more pressure
to common theme

Alfred creeps in
at a slower pace
uninvited visitor
to our place

since the virus
that brought all inside
another lockdown
virtually implied

holding us indoors
surely well meaning
glued to the media
our brains cleaning

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Alert’

force of nature
fear of the unknown
grim predictions

powerful elements
falling rain
steady moving low

tucked away
under soft sheets
turning and tossing

constant
barrage of
questions

future options
going through
alert mind

jumping to
conclusions
sleepless night

low lying house
past floods
uncertainty

eyes wide open

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Forecasted’

looming over us
Alfred cyclone grand
under the skin
and over our land

wild and untamed
expecting heavy gale
through our towns
unseen on such a scale

forecasted to hit tonight
with a heavy heart
everyone’s initiative
plays a major part

watching its track map
by a quick glance
an escape from its claws
leaves a little chance

some say it is man made
others blame it on God
who can see through the fog
it is sure a tad odd

eerie feeling on the streets
no birds or noise of traffic
life has slowed down to a halt
silence around almost graphic

what to do with extra time
days seem almost stretched
unexpected undesired
today will be deeply etched

remain put and optimistic
let nature take its course
use this chance to recap on life
and trust the Source

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Waking’

liberated statue with
chain around the legs
share an act of kindness
give us free range eggs

who knows where it leads
when kids build rockets
role play robin hood then
line their own pockets

status wealth and power
display of egos round a table
come to senses if you dare
and are still somewhat able

the machinery of conflict
is greatest source of drama
to keep us on the edge of seats
and still wearing pajama
