MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Tea Tree River’
it took aeons
yet we savored
every moment
simply gliding
mirrored surface
of the river
at sunrise
we took off
in a kayak
paddling gently
returned smiling
almost at dusk
solitude on the water
no other soul around
apart from goannas
tea tree color
spanning wide and deep
hiding bull sharks
in the everglades
the sun emerges and retreats
undisturbed
