MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Mirrored’

in search of assistance
with a rigid mirror
showing signs of
wear and tear

aging proceeds
without permission
bringing the gift of
squeaky knees

the fog on the glass
reflecting the youth
images showing
distant beauty

shattering bang!
the mirror in pieces
each one of them
the hologram of life
re-lived

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Hormonal’

hormonal imbalance
topic of late
end of the period
excess of weight

lack of good sleep
sensitive to touch
more facial hair
is just too much

what are the options
there must be a way
change of gender
saves the day

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Fifty’

turning fifty
quick it goes
gifts you get
wished to foes

morning blues
late night news
growing out of
fancy shoes

hot flashes
on a winter day
summer heat
you wish away

wearing shorts
now causing issues
flabby cheeks
excess tissues

food you eat
turns into fat
your stomach grows
your mood is flat

anti-wrinkle cream
no longer effective
the human blueprint
proven defective

MIDNIGHT POETRY ‘Inevitable Evolution’

vibrant energetic sleek
terms that fade with age
grumpy tired slow
now fills the page

all is jolly good
until we reach fifty
money come and go
time to be more thrifty

with growing years
celebrate the wins
having all the teeth
share with wider grins

browsing the net
neon sign with a plug
appears on the screen
buy this magic drug

better still the next one
giving us a poke
what service to have
when we croak

running out of time
before all the money
after years of hard work
could seem almost funny

note for our current self
don’t wait for better days
time to cherish here and now
there are no new yesterdays
