MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Anxiety Fix’

joy and calm blankets over me
watching the kangaroos in the garden
chewing on freshly grown grass
the rain certainly helped

the sun is up and its rays warm the air
breeze plays with tree branches
it’s nearing the end of summer
the finish of the mango season

there is much to be grateful for
nature generously offers its gifts
the wildlife is enjoying them
graciously and freely

nothing missing – all is provided
for survival of all species
but humans
still fret
unnecessarily

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Indigestible News’

staring at the news
bleak prospect
ongoing installing
of fear

how much anxiety
can one tolerate
before crushing
down

time to break
the cycle
of trusting
the narrative

our anniversary
deserved better
celebration than
injecting bad news

weather outside
still quite placid
so we took off
for a swim

alone on the road
quiet atmosphere
the dam was silent
only us submerged

dinner in an open
vegan restaurant
supporting the
brave hearts

food to live for
so we ordered
more then we
should

on the way home
sky with fluffy clouds
sun setting fast
on the horizon

home again
time to digest
beware of swallowing
more of the

same news

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Life Ends At Forty’

baking a bread
it could be said
I am a bit sad

trying to express it
using a few words
no space for tears

feeling discontent
life is jolly good
yet the mind is off

like a rotten apple
swallowed by mistake
as the snake laughs

desire for solitude
cover up of social shyness
love of one’s company

our need to shine
our need to display
our need for a sign
our need to pray

our need to be okay

who said life starts at forty
was delusional

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘That Forecast!’

Wind and darkness
Sleepless night ensured
Forecasted thunderstorm
Massive rain predicted

Rivers overflowing
Muddy banks
The forest still asleep
Five am wake up call
Pack the bags and go

Down the steep slopes
Regen not woken up yet
The only car for fifty km
Just before the sun rose

Once down that’s where
The wet started to show
Road diversions in place
River crossings filling up

One way into the unknown
Is it dry enough to pass?
Nervous smile with excitement
There is a lead car ahead

Shall keep up with them
No chance at that bullet speed
Flying through the waters
On the run or in a hurry

Heart rate up just as
The water in the creeks
No other car on that road
There we go diving alone

Is there more to come?
Or is the worst behind us
Now the race is up with
Our energy bars
Reaching close to zero

Escape from the rain
Chasing us around
Many hours later
Resting

The sky broke in half
More is on the way
Is here the right place
To stay dry and safe?

What is with this weather!
Pouring again
Stay safe and above the waters dear friends ♡
