MORNING POETRY – ‘The Slice’

Friday night
at the local
Mama’s

ordered pizza
garlic and basil
mozzarella cheese

crowd of youths
filled the shop
after the game

empty belly
loud voices
excitement

the counter
full of tickets
waiting

the kitchen
staff worked
non stop

prepping
baking
washing

all the pizzas
finally served
time to go

wee hours
a new game
has began

MORNING POETRY – ‘The Curry’

table set for two
satin tablecloth
polished glasses

bubbling curry
on the stove
fragrant spices

candlelight
filled the room
casting shadows

the flame flickered
sudden darkness
anticipation

no visual stimuli
only the tongue
for discernment

the dish arrived
the smell the taste
delicate combo

flavorsome
satisfying
filling

then the dessert
and drinks
served in the dark

all polished off
happy belly
questions arose

ingrediencies
revealed
in the light

only then came
the reaction
a frog allergy

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘The Date’

first encounter
succinct introduction
promise of more

all arranged
high hopes
will this be the one

at the table now
one talking
the other nodding

until the topic
of procreation
suddenly a pause

a blush of uncertainty
human kids will not be
on the agenda

no rejection
no prejudice
relief and ease

childfree for life
made by choice
not by circumstance

date that turned into
lifelong companionship
unencumbered

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Beating Heart’

an unusual sight
mind taking a flight
into the space
behind the face

stillness of an ocean
awareness in motion
between each breath
chance of death

view outside the eyes
impressions that arise
aiming to give meaning
generalizing screening

birthing of new ideas
might be no panacea
for having loving heart
beats being smart
