MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘No Heat’

warmth emitted by a heater
legs in woolen socks
steaming hot cereal drink
in a thermo cup

three layers of tops
keeping the body toasty
surviving the elements
with no central heating

peeking outside the door
kids in shorts and Ts
playing around the pool
water almost frozen

different comfort zone
when one was a child
no weather forecast
could break the deal

funny part of aging
the heart keeps warm
cold hands and feet
having the chi on ice

MORNING POETRY – ‘Burned’

summer heat
on my feet
no more socks
feel the rocks

walked at noon
burned real soon
aloe the best potion
applied in slow motion

cold bath and hot tea
magic you can see
with your own eyes
next time let’s be wise
