The Guru Myth

it’s a myth
if we believe
there is a guru
who has it all

once we put a person
on a pedestal
above us
hiccups arise

the moment
they don’t match
our expectations
and set of values

we are upset
they were not
the guru we
thought we knew

the problem is
we are often
minimizing
ourselves

in the hope
someone
understands us
better than we do

in the process
saving us
from our demons
insecurities

the truth is
they often have
some of their own
weak spots

this is important
and inherent
part of our collective
human experience

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Beating Heart’

an unusual sight
mind taking a flight
into the space
behind the face

stillness of an ocean
awareness in motion
between each breath
chance of death

view outside the eyes
impressions that arise
aiming to give meaning
generalizing screening

birthing of new ideas
might be no panacea
for having loving heart
beats being smart

MIDNIGHT POETRY ‘Inevitable Evolution’

vibrant energetic sleek
terms that fade with age
grumpy tired slow
now fills the page

all is jolly good
until we reach fifty
money come and go
time to be more thrifty

with growing years
celebrate the wins
having all the teeth
share with wider grins

browsing the net
neon sign with a plug
appears on the screen
buy this magic drug

better still the next one
giving us a poke
what service to have
when we croak

running out of time
before all the money
after years of hard work
could seem almost funny

note for our current self
don’t wait for better days
time to cherish here and now
there are no new yesterdays

MIDNIGHT POETRY- ‘Unearthed’

tangled words
out the throat
only wheezing
escapes

jammed in the
narrow passage
all letters of the
alphabet

blunt or sharp
like a spear
a pen with
no ink

leap into
the unknown
fear aside
inhale

a tale about
raw diamonds
yearning to be
discovered
…shine
