MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘No Heat’

warmth emitted by a heater
legs in woolen socks
steaming hot cereal drink
in a thermo cup

three layers of tops
keeping the body toasty
surviving the elements
with no central heating

peeking outside the door
kids in shorts and Ts
playing around the pool
water almost frozen

different comfort zone
when one was a child
no weather forecast
could break the deal

funny part of aging
the heart keeps warm
cold hands and feet
having the chi on ice

MORNING POETRY – ‘Natures Ways’

deep sounds of didge
setting out the tone
outside strong wind
moving through tall trees

magpies playing in
a water fountain
black and white coat
ruffling their feathers

thin feet bathed
in the cool wet liquid
droplets of rain expected
any day soon hopefully

it has been hot and dry winter
not much left of the grass
but for a few brown patches
ducks decimating the parsley

what is left of it
only the stalks
nature has her own
timing

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Cold’

deep red mug of hot lemon water
inhaling the fresh aroma with each sip
missing a touch of honey

antique wooden table shows wear and tear
too many parties held around it
time to spend some money

chilly wind is picking up outside
in the land of ice and snow
the nose gets runny

listen to the sounds out the window
crickets break the sound of silence
wait for the day the sky is sunny

when new orange sunrise awakens
roos jumping in the falling snowflakes
what could be more funny
