MIDDAY POETRY – ‘In The Now’

the stream of life on a highway of time
an unstoppable force always in flux
dire times challenge ingrained beliefs
for a distant carrot on a stick
wishing away the current struggle

unrelenting pursuit of happiness
meanwhile the fleeting moment dissipates
into the vastness of past memories
soon forgotten not forgiven

the regret always a close friend
sharing space with guilt and self pity
the trio asking for validation
graceful acceptance of self

on a threshold of a new era
feelings acknowledged
the pressure released
new life embraced
in the now

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Anxiety Fix’

joy and calm blankets over me
watching the kangaroos in the garden
chewing on freshly grown grass
the rain certainly helped

the sun is up and its rays warm the air
breeze plays with tree branches
it’s nearing the end of summer
the finish of the mango season

there is much to be grateful for
nature generously offers its gifts
the wildlife is enjoying them
graciously and freely

nothing missing – all is provided
for survival of all species
but humans
still fret
unnecessarily

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Santa’s Dream’

Mrs Santa cooks a storm
for this special day
yet her man the Santa
spends the night away

riding away reindeers
dodging violent storms
climbing out of chimneys
tricks of the trade performs

giving the gift of christmas
to kids young at heart
red dress white facial hair
in the costume looking smart

after the feast in solitude
his missus nods off in her chair
the evening news keep blaring on
christmas carols in the air

she dreams of days gone by
before his current role
the money were a bit tight
when Nick was on the dole

came the christmas poems
then the famous Cola ad
brought in many precious gifts
young Nick has never had

his attitude and caring nature
wishing well and sharing cheer
brought him fame out of the parish
giving back since year after year

the story of a well-to-do person
not too young and not too old
kingdom built out of not much
word of mouth and heart of gold

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Flashing Sky’

rumbling of thunder
lightning strikes
flashing of the sky
somber cloud

oven light flickers
batteries kick in
sufficiency the key
when the air is loud

the power of lightning
turned all into darkness
pouring down finally
the instant relief

cooler breeze
half a town
sits in darkness
again in disbelief
