MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Fitting In’

fitting into shrinking pants
fitting into society
no longer fit for purpose

pear shaped statue
the fallen hero
off the pedestal

misery laying
across the footpath
irritating passers by

the missing piece
of the life’s puzzle
to be discovered

desperation
labeled
home made

MIDNIGHT POETRY -‘Craving’

impulse
desire
craving

something
savoury
or sweet

first
salted
nuts

still
unsatisfied

followed by
heaps of
other goodies

too many
to list

blaming
the weather
body chills

pants
too small
to wear

need to
go shopping

belly
overflowing
the waistline

taste buds
what a
curse!

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Sleepy Celebrations’

heavy eyelids
stretching belly
empty pot and
cleanly licked plate

energy levels just enough
to watch the telly
soon to become
all that we ate

the sleepy mood
brings one in sync
with a rainy day
humidity through the roof

to celebrate now
let’s have a drink
of hot chocolate
Valentine’s proof

MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Overweight’

an update!
what we ate
could relate
to our fate

there has been a debate
that what is on the plate
illness can create

how could one translate
kind words of a mate
saying we carry extra weight

our appetite does dilate
we start to eat at eight
stop when it’s too late

exercise we sure hate
to wiggle like a fat bait
then meet the same fate

yet! it is not in us innate

I willfully state
it is not too late
new habits to dictate

the promise is great
to change our fate
we cannot wait

for a better date
or be too overweight
to fit the heavens gate

Poem ‘Overweight’ read by the author.
