MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Ode To Sourdough’

oh, dear sourbread
what i would do for you
for you rise from dust
without added yeast

in my shallow sleep
i pray for you deeply
mornings i feed you
you rise to sky heights

for your rye starter
true love i feel
the flavour the texture
the chewy crumb

the combo of the dark grain
paired with precious liquid
time, the perfect substance
yielding the desired effect

i wait for you patiently
while you work the magic
you deliver every time
the manna of gods

blessed we are
as so little is needed
to satisfy our hunger
yet so very nourishing

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘Hungrily Obsessed’

you can slumber in your bed
while i bake my sour bread
made pure without added yeast
tastes delish to say the least

full involvement of the senses
not burdening on expenses
plain seeded or little sweet
with rye flour it’s a treat

how to master opened ear
kept me up for a whole year
at the end i gave up trying
wiped my eyes stopped crying

today i bake the perfect bread
with no ear and heart instead
tasty fluffy dense just right
keeps me up whole night

day and night i dream of dough
when one ends next one will grow
hungry starter akin to a child
fed on sugars goes tad wild
