MIDDAY POETRY – ‘Anxiety Fix’

joy and calm blankets over me
watching the kangaroos in the garden
chewing on freshly grown grass
the rain certainly helped

the sun is up and its rays warm the air
breeze plays with tree branches
it’s nearing the end of summer
the finish of the mango season

there is much to be grateful for
nature generously offers its gifts
the wildlife is enjoying them
graciously and freely

nothing missing – all is provided
for survival of all species
but humans
still fret
unnecessarily

MIDNIGHT POETRY – ‘The Christmas Fairytale’

the year comes to a close
few more days of cheer
fill our stockings

red green and gold
color everywhere
display of lights

the hunt for presents
visible at the mall
no price too high

on the holy day
eat drink and chat
little too much

year after year
the same rituals
followed to the letter

anchored in
the collective mind
the illusion of Santa

sleigh reindeers the works
the story that never
gets old

no talk of when
or if ever will
Santa retire

MORNING POETRY – ‘Icon Tremble’

criminal act
terror of people
occupy the mind

happening
at bondi beach
peace redefined

celebration of light
turned into darkness
the night has passed

for many the last

red color in the air
shattered parts
broken hearts

new daylight
chance to heal
every battleground

bring into awareness
the outer reflects the inner
we feel our own wound

chasing revenge
moral power
over lost life

our psyche
shadows
rife
